Henry Cameron Freestone

June 24, 2008 -- Henry Cameron Freestone was born unto us this morning at 5:17am. He weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz. and measured 19". We are so excited to have this beautiful baby to be a part of our family.

Yesterday Rachel wasn't feeling well and her mother took her to the hospital (I was at work) to be tested for an infection. While doing the check-up, the nurse discovered that Rachel was in labor. This was a complete surprise to us considering Rachel was only 8 months along.

But everything has turned out well. The delivery went without a hitch, and Rachel's calmness made the whole procedure look like a breeze. Both mother and baby are in good health and good attitudes. I love them both so much.

Swallows in the Stairwell

We've got some baby swallows nesting in our stairwell, and they're just the cutest little things. The always brighten our day as we leave the apartment. The mother can only feed them one at a time, and she's feeding them all day so every few minutes you can hear them squeaking to be fed when the mother returns from her hunt for insects. Here's a clip of her feeding one of the chicks:

When I was known as T-Vision

(Todd Writing) I never planned to use this blog as a way to revel in my past, but once I mentioned to the students I tutor that my street name is T-Vision and that I had a videotaped rap performance, they demanded it to be placed on the web. Because BYU housing prohibits access to YouTube, this blog is its only outlet.

T-Vision circa 2004

My friend Josh (a.k.a. JDream) and I created a rap group called odDream. Years ago we won a rapping contest, beating out Danny Durelli as we lay down the licks at a dance party by the Hogi Yogi and Wynnsong movie theater. For any of those who know about the Provo scene in the late 90's, Danny Durelli was the face for local rap, so it was a big surprise for us to win the two passes to Disneyland.

Anyway, a few years later Josh and I started to get serious about our rapping careers, so we wrote this rap, I guess it's called "Get Lost", and preformed it at my ward's talent show. Here it is...Check it out!

Boy, see...

(Todd writing) We just got back from a three day trip to Boise, Idaho. My cousin Spencer got married to one of three triplets, and we're so happy for him. We had a great trip, especially riding in a 15-passenger van with my parents, my grandpa, and three of my mom's sisters. My aunt Mimi always has fun stories to share, like how her 17-year-old daughter discovered the most comfortable shoes in her mom's closet. She wanted to wear the shoes to work, that is until she found out they were temple slippers.

On the wedding day we attended my cousin's sealing in the Boise Temple. Afterwards we went on a bike ride through Boise on the Greenbelt, a nice biking/walking trail that goes through the heart of Boise. That evening we went to the reception, and then finished the night with a game of speed scrabble. Also, my aunts "revealed" the sex of our baby with an old wives method of dangling a needle from Rachel's palm. Apparently we are having a girl, but I don't believe in witchcraft so I'm still unsure.

Soccer Ball Boy Video

A couple of weeks ago we made a movie with our nieces and nephew called "Soccer Ball Boy and the Bicycle Bandit." Check it out!

The Dress: Todd rocks me around the world two times

Ladies and gentlemen, Todd has made me yet another dress--a maternity dress. He's not an ordinary husband. Quite contrary. But, he would hate for me to brag about him here, and so I won't even start. I'll let the dress speak for itself and him. He gave it to me as a graduation/Mother's day/birthday present. I love it. Some of its features are: its European Burda pattern, like-linen fabric, my favorite color--turquoise, pockets, top stitching, an invisible zipper, darts, gathering, and buttons. It's adorable.

The Hot Spot

I wasn't going crazy, but I was sure the the center of the floor in our second bedroom was heating up. I stepped in the room to put clothes away or check emails and I could feel the carpet getting warmer day after day, but just in one spot in the center of the room; the diameter of the hot spot was about 12". I didn't know what to attribute it to until I noticed that the vacant apt. below us had their bedroom light on. I think the cleaners must have left it on, and it had been on for about a week. I began to get worried. Our carpet was really heating up--almost too hot for me to stand on--and I decided I had to do something about it. What if it just kept getting hotter? And, who would pay for the electricity bill? I told Todd that it would be adventuresome to try to break in through a window and turn it off ourselves, but he wasn't really up for that. He suggested that the light was intentionally kept on to make people think it was occupied. I didn't believe him 100% and decided I would break in later. After all, I was trying to keep our apt. from burning up. But, on my way up the stairwell after taking out the trash I was curious to see if their front door was unlocked since it was vacant. Sadly it was. After telling Todd about my disappointment at losing an adventure I told him I would just walk in and turn it off. I went back down stairs, opened the door, and entered the freaky, empty apt. I turned off the light and quickly ran out. Today the hot spot is gone. Phew. I just hope I don't get in trouble . . .
