Blessed
This weekend we had Henry's blessing. My (Rachel's) whole family came into town, including Sarah and her family from Oklahoma and Matt and Jessica from D.C. (who were in Israel for the past 2 years). We also spent time with Todd's family including Henry's awesome aunt Lisel and uncle Christian. It was the first time my whole family was together in 3 years, and it was a blast. We ate together a lot, watched the kids play and the Olympics. We went on a hike, did magic tricks, and most importantly, Todd blessed Henry. Henry has gained 4 pounds since he was born and he has grown 2 and a half inches. Pop (Todd's grandpa) calls him our "little whopper". He now coos and sort of smiles, usually in his sleep. Just before the big weekend I received a package in the mail. It was from my grandparents in Vegas. Inside was the most beautiful quilt. My grandma Cameron makes amazing quilts and we feel so lucky that she sent us one! You can see it in the pictures.
A close-up.
Henry likes to suck on his tongue--a Cameron trait for sure. He is so handsome and looks just like Todd so I like to point out any features remotely close to the Cameron family. :)
His tongue is definitely one of them.
Awww, cute.
Todd wasn't a fan of getting kissed when he was a kid and so I'm getting as many kisses in before Henry shies away from them, too.
The proud dad. Yep, very bright outside.
Henry is sleeping on the beautiful blanket my mom crocheted for his blessing
and Grandma C's quilt.
The "hike". We walked on a paved path to Bridal Veil Falls and had a picnic.
Here are our niece and nephew, Brenna and Cannon, on a bridge.
The beautiful falls.

On our way to Ripple's for a delicious lunch.
No, I don't think our friend in the orange is a real photo bomber. Thanks to mom Freestone I have the awesomest stroller. It's like the Rolls-Royce of strollers.
. . . stay tuned for a magic show slide show from Todd: the "magical uncle".
Walking home from church.
Henry's sporting the blessing gown from Mim (Todd's mom) and a sun hat made by Todd.
I think he's going to be a boxer.

He rolled over!
Only six weeks and two days old, Henry is. It was a fluke. Wasn't it? We were on the floor doing our usual tummy time and he just up and rolled over. He was looking to the left at his new IKEA toys/friends (mini stuffed animals) and he straightened out his right arm, kicked his legs and . . . rolled over. I couldn't believe my eyes. (Now I know what it feels like to be a mom that rejoices in the small developments of her wee ones. I'll have you know that it feels amazing.) I do think it was serendipitous and that he won't do it again for a while but it just makes me think that he's going to be nothing less than genius. ;)

Henry's bath time song: "Bath time, bath time, it's gonna be so much fun! Bath time, bath time you like bein' in the tub. We're gonna splish | we're gonna splash | we're gonna wish | we're gonna wash. Bath time, bath time, it's gonna be so much fun!" (Todd made it up; Henry loves it.)
Family picture at Ashton's wedding at the Bountiful Temple. It was beautiful and Ashton and Stephen were as classy as ever.

Pet Peeve: Dirty dishes . . .
I wouldn't say I'm very obsessive compulsive. Maybe a little, but not very. However, I've just discovered that one of my pet peeves is dirty dishes. Not just regular dirty dishes, but dirty dishes that are not rinsed off and stacked neatly. (This is is a level of my "little" OCD-ness.) The following is how I rate my stages of dirty/clean dishes and corresponding feelings: dirty dishes = totally gross, can't go to sleep without doing something about it. Dirty dishes that are rinsed and stacked neatly = not so gross, looks and smells nicer, I can sleep at night but must wash in the morning. Clean dishes in the drainer = a happy Rachel. Clean dishes, put away = ideal. I hope I'm not scaring you. I have found others that are like me--I found a picture online with a sub line, "Sometimes stacking the dirty dishes neatly is the best you can do. (haha)". It's true, especially with a new baby. I just thought I would share this unusual fetish-pet peeve so that I could get it off my chest. Phew. Feels better. Do you have a unique pet peeve or fetish?

Warning: Wedding pictures
It was our one-year anniversary July 21st. No, we were not sitting in the hospital with a new born like we had anticipated. Henry was born four weeks before as you all know. We spent the lovely evening together at Ottavio's and at home.
Todd's dad was kind enough to tend our little one while we went out to dinner. We had talked about eating at Ottavio's on the patio since last summer and we finally did it for our anniversary. It was a lovely evening: delicious food, great company, flowers all around, blue sky, warm summer air, people walking along the sidewalk, etc. Ideal. We stuffed ourselves and talked about our favorite times over the past year, then walked around the block. We went home to a sleeping babe and almost sleeping father. Todd's dad was a champ. He didn't call us once!
We watched Dan In Real Life and ate a few slices of our year old wedding cake. It was still good! Thank you freezers.
