A Date

Yesterday I got a call, it was 7 pm.
"Hi, Rachel, are you busy this Thursday?"
It was my husband, upstairs.
I was ironing. "Well, I see something on the calendar, but I can't quite read it, why?"
"Well, there's a live Prairie Home Companion showing at the Savoy 16. Do you want to go?"
I could hear the floor creaking as he paced in our bedroom. It made me blush. He was pacing just like he did in the corner fort--his bachelor house--when he asked me out on dates before we were married. Like he was actually nervous to ask me out!
"Sure, that sounds like a blast!" I was playing along.
He replies sounding a little relieved and excited, "Great. Then we'll get pizza for our friends and they can watch Henry. I'll see you Thursday then, if not sooner."
I found myself nervously, and excitedly kicking the half-inflated balloon around our kitchen as I said good bye.
Now, I don't really miss being single, but I do love the excitement that comes with being asked out by someone that you completely adore and you can tell adores you, too, just a little bit.
Then he came down stairs and we did the dishes.
I'm so excited.
(This was taken about 10 minutes after Todd proposed.)

Dear Rachel-

I was having a crummy night... like a really crummy night. Then I hopped on blogger and read this adorable post. You really love your husband don't you? It's beautiful. Thank you for perking up my night. I'm so glad I'm getting to know you.

What a sweet husband! That is darling! I agree, the feeling of being asked out is fun. I got all giddy the other night when I was getting ready for a date with Eric. So much fun dating your husband can be :)

Nice work Todd! I LOVED this idea. Dates are hard to come by when you have kiddos. You two are too cue!

How awesome! You guys truly are an example to the rest of us! :) And I know what you mean about not wanting to be single but getting the date invites from someone you adore! Thanks! Sunday your husband mentioned you had a blog and today I found you on FB so I saw your blog, I hope you don't mind. I love it!
