Surprise: a beard!

On Wednesday at 9 pm I was waiting at the airport to see Todd after a week and a half a part. I was waiting alone. All alone. The only people in the whole airport were janitors and clerks at the Hertz car rental desk. I've never seen an airport so empty, but I had never before been in an airport with only 4 terminals (except in Springfield). I stood at the revolving door with Henry in arm, two suitcases, a backpack and a stroller.
Todd pulled up and I waved. I couldn't see him through the window because of the reflection of the bright airport lights on the glass, but as I walked through the revolving door Todd stepped from behind the car, and he had a beard! And a dozen red roses! He was dressed nice, and oh so handsome. I started to get nervous and flustered and excited, like I did when we were dating. If I remember correctly, he appeared to be walking in slow motion and the song "Take my breath away" was playing. Okay, that was just in my head but really, that's what it was like.
So seeing my husband for the first time after only 10 days was glorious. The absence did make my heart grow fonder and I really realized that I'm incomplete without him. Not only did he surprise me with an awesome beard and roses, but he made a delicious dinner: gazpacho with the fix-ins and a homemade carrot cake for dessert. I would say I'm seriously so blessed, but that would be cliche.
