"Potato Peel chick book"

Last night Todd and I sat down to "A Charlie Brown Christmas". With Ben and Jerry's Chubby Hubby in Todd's hand, and Haagen-Dazs Mango sorbet in mine I offered, "Todd, do you want some of mine?"

With an almost disgusted look he replies, "No, thank you. That's like me asking you if you want to read my [looking around the room and spotting his textbook] Numerical Methods for Chemical Engineering book while you were reading your potato peel chick book." And a big spoonful of "fudge covered peanut butter filled pretzels in vanilla malt" landed in his mouth.

I got it.

He was right, my "potato peel chick book" did equal in literary deliciousness to Chubby Hubby. There was no way I would put my delicious book down for such a boring one. (Clarification: Haagen-Dazs' Mango sorbet is not boring, it's full of flavor, yummy and fat free.) The book, however, is not called, "Potato Peel Chick Book". It's, and brace for it: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Long title, but an amazing book.

It is an epistolary novel--written in a series of letters--and is a tale about a society formed during the German occupation on the island of Guernsey (in the English Channel), and a writer, Juliet, who aimed at writing a book about the society.

This book was my Chubby Hubby anytime I could find a quiet moment to read, even if that meant staying up late to read it. I loved it and I highly recommend it!!
