Reporting on my 27th Birthday

I turned 27 a little over 2 months ago, and had an
AWESOME
SURPRISE PARTY!

Todd went above and beyond this year to make me feel special on my birthday. He planned a surprise dinner-dance party, contacted old and new friends and family to get their special birthday wishes and song dedications.

You may be interested to know how he surprised me, if I was really surprised, and what kind of song list was created. So . . .

The night of the party, the day after my birthday, I planned to make hotdogs (and various sides) for my family for dinner. My only responsibility was to unlock the community room in our village for some committee's meeting at 6 o'clock. It would only take 5 minutes and Todd said he'd be home in time for me to do so and then we'd enjoy dinner together. When 5 to 6 rolled around Todd came running up to the front door. I was there waiting with my keys in hand. I gave him a kiss and told him I'd be back in 5 minutes, and that my dear friend, Ashlee, had offered to make us dinner and it would be there soon.

Wasn't that nice of her!? I thought so. I really had no care in the world!

As I walked out the door Todd asked if he and the kids could join me. How nice! I thought. It was such a beautiful evening, and I would have loved the company. So, they joined me. When we got to the community room and I unlocked the door I noticed tables, and chairs, and thought that some committee was really planning something big! I was impressed!

Then everybody yelled SURPRISE!, Todd, turned on the lights and I was so pleasantly surprised and shocked and flattered and happy and overwhelmed and surprised and . . . and bundles of kids ran up to hug me. It was awesome.

I almost wanted to cry but didn't.
Todd said he was glad I didn't cry.

Todd (with the help of some friends) had prepared a hotdog dinner with sides, cake, a song/Rachel trivia game, and dance. Everyone ate, we played the game, had cake, and danced and played the night away.

Yes. I was totally, truthfully surprised. He pulled it off. Y'all pulled it off. I was oblivious. It was so fun.

The song list is quite an eclectic one as you can imagine. I love them all. Thanks for your requests and kind words, and help in putting the party on!!

One of the best surprise birthday parties ever! Todd did a super awesome job! We also recommended a song (Don't Stop Believin' - Journey) but we were so last minute that we didn't quite make the cut ;). Hooray for being 27!
